Love conquers all, even distance! As proven by Kirsty and Adam, a couple that are originally from completely different parts of the planet - Kirsty being from South Africa and Adam from the UK. The pair met in 2016, whilst both studying a PHD in marine biology at Plymouth University. The two kept crossing paths, through their mutual degrees and work events. Eventually fate brought them together, as they found themselves sitting opposite each other at a restaurant after a work conference. The connection was instant and it was immediately clear that they had both found someone special. The rest is history! It hasn't all been smooth sailing though, with the COVID-19 pandemic throwing an inevitable curveball into the relationship. With Kirsty's family being in South Africa, she went home to visit them for Christmas but due to the intensified travel restrictions ended up not being able to return to the UK and to Adam for a whole six months. This six months was difficult, as it would be for any couple but Adam decided to make the most of this time apart. It was during this six months that Adam got in contact with us to discuss ideas for purchasing an engagement ring for Kirsty! After finding our website and browsing our selection of ethical engagement rings and leaning towards a yellow gold trilogy, Adam booked a showroom appointment with us in Truro. After a few weeks of deliberating and choosing the perfect ring, Adam went ahead and ordered the Felicia ring in 18k yellow gold. With the ring ordered, Adam flew out to meet Kirsty after six months apart and pair couldn't be happier to be reunited. Adam considered proposing in South Africa, with it being Kirsty's home. But due to all the travel complications caused by the pandemic he instead decided to go somewhere a little closer to home. On a romantic getaway to the beautiful country of Dorset, Adam took Kirsty on a walk across Dorset's stunning coast at sunset, with a bottle of Champagne - aka the PERFECT recipe for a proposal. At the perfect spot, Adam asked Kirsty to marry him whilst the sun was setting and thankfully she said yes! With planning underway they are hoping to tie the knot in 2022.
