A sunny proposal in stunning Sidmouth, when we saw Rachel and Dan’s pictures we just knew we had to put a post together for this adorable couple. The love and joy that radiates through their faces is simply infectious, and coupled with a gorgeous seaside backdrop it’s the picture perfect proposal!
Taking it right back to the start, Rachel and Dan met when they were at nursery, taking the term ‘childhood sweethearts’ to a whole new level. However, they didn’t meet again properly until 20 years later, which is when their love started to blossom. It’s funny how fate can bring our paths back together! When Dan was asked when he knew he would want to propose to Rachel he said “At nursery… jokes…I was pretty confident I’d want to after the first few weeks of dating”, so it seems he was smitten from pretty early on, when you know, you know!
When looking for an engagement ring, Dan felt it would be wrong not to have an ethical stone, especially when there’s so many wonderful options on the market at the moment.
Of course, he is absolutely right! With the rise of lab-grown diamonds and mined diamond alternatives, it’s now easier than ever to get a beautiful stone without the hefty financial or ethical toll. Rachel and Dan found us online, and Rachel may have dropped a few hints that the gorgeous delicate halo ring, Posey, was her favourite.
Those hints must have done the trick, as Dan proposed to Rachel with the beautiful Posey ring in 18k gold, set with a 1.0ct central Ethica Diamond. Now onto the proposal itself!
When choosing a place to propose Dan wanted to choose somewhere that was special to both of them. The seaside town of Sidmouth is a place that holds many special memories, not only of lovely holidays for the pair of them but also of Rachel’s childhood. Growing up nearby, she would visit frequently as a child and her grandparents own a home there, making it extra personal. (Not to mention, the stunning stretch of coastline and rugged cliffs make for a spectacular back drop!) Once he knew the location and planned a trip for the two of them, he packed the ring and let the rest happen naturally.
On a sunny day in a familiar spot at the top of a hill overlooking the ocean, Dan knew this was the perfect time. He set up his tripod to record and told Rachel they were “taking a photo together on timer”, catching the incredibly special moment to follow on film. He dropped to one knee, said lots of lovely things and presented her with the ring, and of course, she said yes! Quickly followed by ‘it’s so big!’ in reference to her beautiful engagement ring, which is always a good reaction!
Although it wasn’t a huge surprise, as the pair had discussed getting engaged that week, it was still an incredibly special moment. As you can see from the photos, the pair are over the moon to be engaged to each other, and the location, ring and weather all made for a perfect proposal! The wedding venue is already booked for August 2023 and Rachel and Dan have a busy summer ahead of them getting all the rest of the wedding plans sorted. We are so happy to have been a part of this couples engagement story, and would like to wish them huge congratulations! x
