WE’VE GOT A GOLD AWARD, IN THE SCIENCE CATEGORY OF THE
RETAIL AND WHOLESALE SECTION, WHICH IS REALLY EXCITING!
We’ve won an award! It’s a Green Apple Environment Award in the Green Organisation’s international campaign to find the greenest companies, councils and communities.
We’re also going forward to the Green World Awards 2019, as one of the representatives of the UK, showcasing our Ethica Diamond, with its ground-breaking eco-friendly, low-energy production, and ethical values.
And they’re going to plant 100 trees in our name, as part of the United Nations Billion Trees initiative. We’ve written a blog about this, as it’s a really exciting environmental development scheme, re-foresting damaged and degraded landscapes across the world.
The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities and countries.
The awards are organised by The Green Organisation – an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
Under our previous name of ‘KinetIQue’, we recently became a Bronze Member of the Green Organisation, which permits us to display their logo on our website and printed materials – and enter their competition as many times as we like. We have signed a Code of Conduct, to give you, the customer, peace of mind that we are doing everything we can to protect and preserve the natural environment. The Code of Conduct states:
- The company is committed to good environmental practice, ensures that it will meet the standards set by environmental law, and fulfil its duty-of-care requirements for waste and disposal.
- The company will reduce, reuse and recycle at every opportunity to improve its environmental performance.
- Purchasing priorities will be given to buying locally, sustainably and ethically.
- The company will take responsibility for its environmental actions.
- The company recognises this to be a long-term commitment to continually update and improve environmental practice.
In addition to letting us use their logo to flag up our membership, the Green Organisation plants 100 trees in our name every year we’re members, giving us a total each month – that’s extra to the 100 we get as winners – and part of the United Nations Billion Tree Campaign. We think it’s an excellent campaign to support – and we’re sure you will too, as our customers.
With many membership organisations, it can be a struggle to understand what the benefit is to the customers when a business joins, but we are sure that being members of the Green Organisation will help our customers understand that our green credentials are not just words we say (or write), but standards which we live by.
